Sometimes you get a lucky shot. The daily grind doesn't always reveal beauties, or moments of peace. I've seen this roadrunner passing through Las Cruces hundreds of times. I've seen quite a few photos of this spot, and I've been up close to the bird with repurposed materials.
I was coming back from Deming and it had just rained. The highway drive gave me an ethereal sky view, one that New Mexico is lucky enough to have often. Our sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous, and on this day it had rained. I had my Canon EOS Rebel i7 with me, so I pulled into a rest area and quickly snapped the photo. Within minutes, the rain started again, and I couldn't believe I was able to catch that fleeting moment.
The raw image didn’t quite capture the vibrant colors I saw in person, so I turned to Adobe Lightroom to bring the sky and landscape to life as I experienced it. Below, you’ll find the before and after images to show how I adjusted the photo to reflect what I saw in that moment.
